The second Sino-Russian Cultural Forum kicked off in Beijing on Nov 27. Mr. Ding Wei, Vice Minister of Culture of China, Vladimir Medinsky, Minister of Culture of Russia and representatives of cultural circles from both countries attended the opening ceremony of the three-day event. Co-organized by the Ministries of Culture of China and Russia, the forum focuses on five main themes, including "Cultural Life and Entrepreneurship of Youth", "Cultural Industry and Trade", "Cultural Exchange on National Boundaries", "Cultural Finance" and "Film Culture". About 50 experts, scholars and veteran professionals are invited to this forum to carry out discussion. Different from the first session of the Sino-Russian Cultural Forum, this year's event pays more attention to the younger generation in the two countries, with the aim to encourage communication and cooperation between Chinese and Russian young people in a variety of fields. Mr. Qian Feng, the President of ORI Animation delivered a speech in the Forum on 28th November, showing the current Sino-Russian cooperation in the animation field. That's also the goal ORI and the Sino-Russian forum have been working for.

The 5th November witnessed the opening of American Film Market (AFM). About 8,000 people attend the eight day event to network and to sell, finance and acquire films. Participants come from more than 70 countries and include acquisition and development executives, agents, attorneys, directors, distributors, festival directors, financiers, film commissioners, producers, writers, etc, and ORI animation is one of them. The American Film Market (AFM) is a film industry event held each year at the beginning of November in Santa Monica, California. Founded in 1981, the AFM quickly became one of the premier global marketplaces for the film business, where unlike a film festival, production and distribution deals are the main focus of the participants. More than 100 speakers from around the globe participate in the AFM Conference Series, Producers Forum, Roundtables and Industry Conversations with industry thought leaders and experts sharing their knowledge and insights with participants. Mr. Qian Feng, the President of ORI had in-depth face-to-face conversations with many attendees. ORI has been devoted to international co-production and has so far made some achievements with partners in Russia, Saudi Arabia, UK, France, and Austria etc. Based on these experiences, ORI and present friends discuss to create success hand in hand in the near future.

On 9th October, Ori Animation and Russian RWS signed animation co-production agreement in Chinese Culture Center in Moscow. Ms. Zhang Zhonghua, the Minister - Cultural Counselor of Chinese Embassy in Russia, director of Chinese Culture Centre in Moscow attended and addressed the ceremony. Mr. Vyacheslav Telnov, Head of the Cinema department of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and Mr. Sergey Sanakoev, Chairman of the Executive Board of the Russian-Chinese Centre of trade and economic cooperation, Secretary general of the Russian-Chinese Chamber of machine and technical trade facilitation and innovative products, attended and extended congratulations to the signing ceremony. Mr. Qian Feng, the president of Ori Animation and Mr. Yuri Sapronov, the president of RWS delivered speeches. According to co-production agreement, ORI and RWS will create scripts together based on Chinese, Russian culture and history and then sharing copyright profit based on investment percentage. ORI will undertake the film production in China. The cooperation, being the first animated film co-production between China and Russia, marks a further step in deepening cooperation of animation industry in two countries. This cooperation also witnesses the beginning of co-production between ORI and European enterprises. Before that, ORI and Saudi Broadcasting Corporation signed co-production agreement on animated TV series HAKIM, which is under production now. ORI will co-produce with more international partners in the near future, which enables Chinese culture spread to abroad. By that a growing number of overseas audiences will learn and accept Chinese culture, even loving Chinese culture. Actually, ORI has been devoted to promoting Chinese culture exchange with foreign countries, which is exactly its 'China Dream'.

On September 5, Vice Secretary of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee, Suzhou municipal party Committee Secretary Shi Taifeng went to Suzhou to survey the conditions of cultural creative industry development. Shi Taifeng emphasized that the cultural industry is not only the soft power of one city but also the hard power to its economy. It's really important to take a full-range consideration of promoting the upgrade transformation, and then considers optimizing the related policy to support the development of cultural industry, in order to be the cultural enterprise with core competitiveness and to promote the leap-forward development of cultural industry in our city. Afternoon, Shi Taifeng and his line came to ORI ANIMATION which is located in Ori Mansion, Suzhou Industrial Park, accompanied by Qian Feng who is the president of ORI ANIMATION. They inspected the animation experience center and animation manufacture center, in addition, Vice Secretary Shi gave the positive answers to Ori's achievements in eight years since they established, and also appreciated they improved their competitiveness and went global by independent innovation on cultural products. ORI ANIMATION is an animation enterprise in Suzhou which first certificated by the government. Ori has completed 10 original animation TV production and distribution, co-produced with countries such as Saudi Arabia, Russia, Britain, Jordan with accumulative attained about $26 million project cooperation fund. Whereafter, Shi Taifeng held an on-site meeting in Ori's No.1 meeting room, listened to the conditions of cultural creative industry development work from Suzhou Administration of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication, and had a discussion with principals from six cultural enterprises, including ORI ANIMATION. Absolutely, people need to still stay conscious while they see these great achievements. Suzhou is famous for its ancient history, culture and the economic development. However, cultural development and economic development are out of proportion with its insufficient cultural development, industrial development and cultural development are not matching each other in strength. Cultural industry is not competent to play the leading role in helping economy to transform and upgrade. Shi Taifeng emphasized on cultural industry should be motivated by creation, treat the content as the core and reply on the input of science technology and intelligence. Energy efficient, low pollution, low carbon, green and sustainability has great significance to the development and prosperity of culture and to the transformation of the pattern of economic development in Suzhou. Cultural industry should be seen as an important fulcrum in this tough battle between speeding up transfer mode and adjusting the structure, then concentrates to open a breach. In order to accelerate the development of the creative cultural industry and enterprise in the whole city, Shi Taifeng pointed out to follow four requirements. First is to be a great cultural enterprise with competitive core and firmly establish the idea that the content is the base. To cultural industry development, content is core competitiveness to determine their development and survive. Every cultural enterprise should fully dig into and integrate the rich variety of cultural resources in Suzhou, and then apply the abundant Wu Culture to the operating progress of creative cultural industry. Secondly, He said to strengthen the talents and technology support and to be the independent innovative enterprise. It is reinforce cultivation and collection of cultural industry management talents, technical experts and creative art talents. He also mentioned to improve the capacity of independent innovations，enhances the expressional power, the attraction and appeal of cultural products. Thirdly, cultural enterprises need to have comprehensive advantages through speeding up the industrial convergence. Industrial convergence is a significant feature of the cultural industry. Revitalize the old assets such as good ancient city wall and cartilage to create competitive cultural tourism projects and products. To promote the integration between cultural industry and information industry is very important right now. The last point is to consummate the policy support and system innovation, in order to accelerate the development of cultural industry. Local party committees and governments also will create a loose environment actively and provide high quality service for the development of cultural enterprises, no matter it a state-owned enterprise, foreign enterprise or private companies. Furthermore, he also mentioned all kinds of special funds and investments need to be full play. It is also important to strengthen the awareness of copyrights and the protection of intellectual property rights. It means ORI ANIMATION will be in a better circumstance because of the support from government and the copyright protections strengthen. Invited by Public Relations Department of Ministry of Culture and Chinese Embassy in Saudi Arabia, Mr. A. Al-Hazzaa, the President of Saudi Broadcasting Corporation, and the Delegation arrived in China on 16th May, 2014 who would start their visit in China for one week. Mr. Wang Hongsheng, the mayor of Suzhou met with the Saudi Delegation on 17th May who expressed his willing of further strengthening the communication and cooperation of Sino – Saudi culture. Ms Guo Yanhe, the Director of Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of Radio, Film and Television, Ms Chen Rong, the Director of Suzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, Press and Publications as well as other leaders attended and witnessed the signing of the cooperation agreement between SBC and ORI ANIMATION. The same day, the Saudi Delegation visited the Animation Industry Basement located in Suzhou of ORI ANIMATION, who looked on the process of animation production. The Delegation also visited Suzhou Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Suzhou Embroidery Museum and some other places which helped to better understand the development of Suzhou, local customs and practices as well as the traditional handicrafts. In the morning of 19th May, Mr. Ding Wei, the Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture met with the President Mr. Hazzaa and the Delegation courteously who expressed the kind regards from Mr. Cai Wu, the Ministry of Ministry of Culture to Mr. Hazzaa. Both of them communicated with the opinions towards the two countries' culture and their expectations of the future cooperation. Mr. Ding Wei said that under the assistance of both countries' Culture Instructions, ORI ANIMATION started the cooperation with SBC and the Co-production Agreement signed in China would write a brand new chapter of the two countries' collaboration in culture industry. In the morning of 20th May, Mr. Nie Chenxi, the Deputy Minister of SARFT met with the President Mr. Hazzaa and the President Mr. Qian Feng who also carried on the brotherly talks. During the stay in Beijing, Mr. Hazzaa and the Delegation also visited the CNR and CCTV – Arabic Channel, who also carried on the talks respectively with Mr. Wang Qiu, the Director of CNR and Mr. Yuan Zhengming, the Deputy Director of CCTV. The President of SBC, Mr. Hazzaa and the Delegation's succeed visit in China formally kicked off the deep cooperation of the Sino – Saudi culture industry. Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations, two countries are always keeping in a friendly collaboration. In recent years, the communication in the culture area has been enhanced. HAKIM, the animated TV series co-presented by SBC & ORI ANIMATION this time which combines Sino – Saudi cultures, plays quite an important and active role in the popularization of the two countries' culture, customs, along with humanistic connotation among the teenagers. The series is going to be finished the production at the end of 2015 with the bilingual dubbing of Arabic and mandarin which will be broadcasted in SBC and CCTV so as to meet the complete coverage. The relaxed and pleasant visual communication method is meant to enhance the understanding between two peoples and to know correctly about the two countries social features. In the future, with the success of the first work, ORI ANIMATION and SBC will produce more and more animated works to play a part in the two countries' communication in culture.
