202023-10Cultural Export: ORI Shines at CannesOn October 19, 2023, the autumn edition of MIPCOM in Cannes, France, concluded successfully, marking a fruitful journey for ORI at this prestigious event. MIPCOM, the largest and most influential audiovisual content market globally, gathers industry professionals from various sectors to network, collaborate, exchange ideas, discuss future trends and bonding international partnerships. This year’s MIPCOM attracted participants from over 100 countries, including government agencies, broadcasters, platforms and production companies, with more than 11,000 industry professionals in attendance. After five years, China returned to MIPCOM as the "Country of Honor," to promote its audiovisual works on the global stage through hosting high-level forums, pitch conference, and joint exhibition booth . This marked ORI’s first appearance at an international Television festival since the pandemic. ORI, with its long-standing commitment to international cooperation, adheres to the philosophy of “telling Chinese stories the world can understand and telling global stories that resonate with China.” Guided by principles of mutual respect and win collaboration, ORI has spent over a decade mastering the art of cultural export through empathetic and globally appealing animated projects. At MIPCOM, ORI presented a lineup of outstanding titles, including TV animations series Together, Duo Duo, Panda Ming, and animated feature films such as Hockey King and One Day. The stop-motion co-production Together made a remarkable debut at MIPCOM. The series, centered on the theme “Harmony in Diversity,” follows three Chinese friends as they explore different cultures worldwide while sharing traditional Chinese heritage. The first season involved collaborations with countries such as Serbia, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and Armenia. During the event, ORI also held in-depth discussions with media companies from Hungary, Singapore, and Malaysia, exploring partnerships for future seasons. As ORI's flagship international animation brand under the "Belt and Road Initiative," the series aims to produce three seasons over five years, covering cultural stories from 18 countries. Another highlight was the co-produced TV animation Duo Duo with Singapore, which drew widespread attention. With a theme of “The best family and friends are always around you,” this educational animation integrates core of Chinese cultural values of unity, kindness, and inclusiveness, making it a outstanding project the international market. ORI’s projects, characterized by their unique storytelling, diverse characters, and high production quality, captured the interest of many industry professionals. Numerous companies expressed interest in collaborating with ORI to deepen partnerships. Additionally, films such as Hockey King and One Day sought television distribution partnerships to broaden their audience and enhance their global influence. This successful journey to Cannes marks another milestone for ORI, paving the way for broader development in the international film and television industry. 312023-08First China Office of Cultural Company in Arab Region Opens in SuzhouOn August 31, the Pitch Conference: Digital Intelligence Sharing in Sino-Arab Cities for a Better City Future was held in Suzhou. The official announcement of Cinewaves Films Chinese Office was made by Zha Yindong, the deputy mayor of the city of Suzhou, and Saudi film industry pioneer Faisal Baltyuor, founder and CEO of CineWaves Films, in the presence of Chinese government representatives and cultural sectors. 052023-08Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General of the League of Arab States Visited ORI GroupOn August 3, Dr. Haifa Abu Ghazaleh, Assistant Secretary General, Head of the Social Affairs Sector at the League of Arab States came to ORI Group for an inspection visit, accompanied by Souad Sayhi, Director of the Culture and Dialogue of Civilizations Department of the League of Arab States, and Amal Afifi, Head of the Arab-Chinese Mechanism for the Cultural Sphere. The Vice Mayor of Suzhou, Mr. Cha Yingdong, had a friendly meeting with Dr. Haifa at ORI Mansion, jointly participated by the Bureau of International Exchange and Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Suzhou Bureau of Culture, Radio and Television, the Propaganda and United Front Work Department of Suzhou Industrial Park, and ORI Group. Vice Mayor Cha Yingdong first welcomed the visit of Dr. Haifa and her party and expressed his gratitude for the efforts made by the Arab side and Suzhou to jointly promote the consensus on cultural and artistic exchanges between China and Arab States. He also pointed out that Suzhou is a famous historical and cultural city with 2,500 years of history and a modern city with robust economic growth. Suzhou has always attached importance to cultural exchanges and cooperation with Arab countries, therefore, the “China-Arab Countries Animation Industry Forum” to be held in Suzhou at the end of August this year will be a great event in the field of Sino-Arab cultural diplomacy and Suzhou will do its best to organise this forum. Dr. Haifa said that Arab countries value the friendship between China and Arab countries, and hope to maintain each other’s friendship through the beautiful form of animation, and jointly sow the seeds of friendship between China and Arab countries. The Arab countries will continue to deepen cultural exchanges and cooperation with China, constantly expand the field of exchanges, promote people-to-people communication, and carry forward the traditional friendship between the two sides. Dr. Haifa is full of confidence and expectations for the upcoming Sino-Arab Animation Industry Forum.
