At 3 p.m. Riyadh time on September 5, 2024, the Chairman of ORI Group Feng QIAN signed an agreement with H.E. Deputy Minister of Investment Saleh Khabti, and H.E. Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mohammed Alrobayan, at the Ministry of Investment.
During the signing ceremony, ORI Group announced a new wave of cultural industry investments in Saudi Arabia. The group's gaming company is set to complete its registration and begin operations within 2024. The company's core focus will be building a gaming operations platform and establishing a gaming ecosystem to provide comprehensive services for Chinese gaming products in the Middle East. This initiative aims to foster the integration of culture and technology.
H.E. Deputy Minister Saleh Khabti praised the partnership, stating:
"Over the past five years, the Ministry of Investment, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, has worked tirelessly to establish a framework for technology and emerging industry investments. As a distinguished Chinese cultural enterprise, ORI Group holds a vital role in Sino-Saudi cultural cooperation. We eagerly anticipate ORI’s success in entering the Saudi market and achieving remarkable results. As a pioneer and leader in Saudi investments, we hope ORI will inspire more Chinese companies to join Saudi Arabia's digital and cultural markets. The Ministry of Investment will fully support ORI in creating a shared future of success."
Deputy Minister Mohammed Alrobayan welcomed ORI’s investment in high-tech enterprises, expressing optimism about the transformative impact ORI could bring:
"By the end of 2024, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology expects to incubate and support over 20 gaming companies. We eagerly look forward to ORI's contributions to advancing high-tech enterprise development and cultivating top-tier talent in the sector."
Mr. QIAN shared ORI’s journey in Saudi Arabia:
"ORI first entered the Saudi market in 2012 with the co-production of the animated TV series Hakim and Kong Xiaoxi in partnership with the Saudi Broadcasting Authority. Just two weeks ago, our animated film Return became the first Chinese animated film to premiere in Saudi Arabia, receiving widespread acclaim. With this new gaming investment, we aim to bring China’s successful gaming experience to Saudi Arabia while pioneering an operational model tailored to the local market. We firmly believe that with the strong support of the Ministry of Investment and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, ORI will achieve significant milestones in Sino-Saudi cultural and technological exchanges, injecting new energy into bilateral collaboration."
ORI's gaming company in Saudi Arabia plans an initial investment of $100 million USD, starting with a team of approximately 100 employees and expanding to 300 employees within three years. The company projects annual revenue of $1 billion USD within five years. Additionally, ORI plans to invest in a gaming technology company in Saudi Arabia next year. Over the next five years, ORI’s total investment in Saudi Arabia is expected to exceed $300 million USD, driving continuous business growth and market expansion.
